General Information

Dr. Sang Y. Shin

Dr. Sang Shin grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at University of Utah. He then completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree with honor at Nova Southeastern University, College of Dental Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

After graduation, he completed Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program at Nova Southeastern University in North Miami Beach, Florida. Then, he attended Temple University's Advanced Dental Education Program for specialty training in endodontics in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Shin served as a faculty to teach Temple dental students in laboratories and clinics.

After completion of the specialty program, Dr. Shin is working as an endodontist in a private practice limited to endodontics for ten years in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was the co-chairman for seven years at Atlantic Coast Dental Research Clinic in West Palm Beach, Florida to teach and give lectures general dentists on various dental topics.

Dr. Shin is very passionate and adamant about his endodontic specialty. On his own, he continued to achieve for the highest level of his profession by passing a series of examinations to obtain the status of Board Certified Endodontist and Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics.

Dr. Shin became interested in dentistry as a child through his dental trauma as a result of the loss of his two teeth. He had special interests toward dental trauma and devoted himself to save others' traumatized teeth. That was the motivation to give dental trauma lectures to general dentists for optimal handling of traumatized teeth. Dr. Shin has been invited to lecture on the topic of endodontics to various groups. His area of expertises include treatment of dental trauma, regenerative endodontics, and the use of CBCT in endodontics.

In addition, he recently published one step revascularization article (a new treatment protocol helps pus draining dead teeth to continue to grow and strengthen its roots) in renowned International Endodontic Journal and his case study made a cover page of the journal. His case work was published in third edition Dutch endodontic textbook, "Endodontologie" and in July 2011 edition of Dental Clinics of North America Journal.

In addition to his excellence in his work, he volunteered in Palm Beach County dental charity program, "Save a molar" to treat underprivileged children to get pro bono root canal treatments since 2009.

Dr. Shin is very empathetic towards his patients and tries to provide highest quality of care in the highest standards.

In his free time, he enjoys photography, golf, tennis, and traveling. Most of his spare time in recent days is spent with his family and friends.
